RADIOLOGY EXPERIENCE IN EGYPT

(22 months)                                  Al Kabbary Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt.

This is a 300 bedded Hospital in Alexandria, run by the Ministry of Health. All specialities are represented in this hospital and all modern facilities are available for the management of both surgical and non-surgical patients. My duties during the 22 months included preliminary reporting plain X-Rays, CT, MRI that was revised by dedicated Radiology professors from Alexandria University and practising U/S as well.

As part of the on-call duty, I was confronted with the emergency and cold U/S and CT cases.

 

I was an active member in the department organising and preparing for the seminars and tutorials.

This hospital had the following Radiology machines:-

2- Old Toshiba single slice Computed Tomography :

Before I finished my training in this hospital, I passed part I required for obtaining the Master Degree in Radiology. My thesis for the degree consisted of a study into “MRI of the axial skeleton in patients with seronegative spondyloarthropathy”

This is a large University hospital very well equipped tertiary Hospital run by the Ministry of Health. I gained a huge experience there as it covers Alexandria, Behera and Mattrouh districts population and I was supervised by well trained seniors.

During this time I managed to finish part II of the Master degree.

After I finished my Master degree I joined Daweesh scan team. It is a famous Radiology center owned by two Radiology professors in Alexandria University were lots of specialised techniques are performed like MR spectroscopy, perfusion and diffusion, MR enterography, MR mammography and so on. Also there is top of the line MDCT machines and U/S machines.

During this period I have started my MD papers and thesis that is about “Role of Multi Slice Computed Tomography in the diagnosis inflammatory Pancreatic Diseases‘’

It is a new promising radiology centre in Alexandria city, run by eminent professors and consultant radiologists together with a group of carefully selected junior staff. On the top of this radiological group is Prof. Dr Mohamed S. EL Zawawi; professor of Radiology, Monofeyia University. Omega Scan has established in April 2009 and it is located at Azzarita, Raml Station.

During this time, I sat for the first part of the FRCR as well as three module of part 2A which I passed in Birmingham, UK.

Farwanyia Hospital, Kuwait.

 I took up a post in Kuwait to gain experience in a different health care system. Here I've finished the other three modules of the FRCR part 2A.

Farwanyia hospital is a large teaching hospital equipped to western standards. The Radiology department contains up to date state of the art machines and well-selected consultants and registrars.

The extensive teaching programme consisted of daily morning tutorial before starting our duties, weekly journal club review and monthly radiology night meeting in Mubarak Hospital (the Kuwait University Hospital).
